FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 19, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of theft of motor vehicle. On Aug. 3, 2026, a Cornwall Police Service officer was dispatched to investigate a theft of motor vehicle complaint. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he stole his spouse’s motor vehicle. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 19, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.

POSSESSION OF FIREARM CONTRARY TO PROHIBITION ORDER, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF WEAPON, CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 68-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on Aug. 19, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

On Aug. 19, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to the Port of Entry, where a Canada Border Services Agency officer had a man in custody. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a weapons prohibition order and was in possession of a taser. He was subsequently turned over to the CPS, where he was charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 20, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on April 17, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. In the early morning hours of Aug. 20, 2026, police were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located and taken into custody. The warrant was executed and he was later released to appear in court on Sept. 24, 2026.
