Media Release - Aug. 4, 2026

FAIL TO COMPLY, UTTERING THREATS, ASSAULT, RESIST PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 31, 2026, and charged with the following: 

  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault
  • Resist peace officer

On May 14, 2026, a Cornwall Police Service officer was dispatched to a threat’s complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged the man threatened to kill an individual known to him. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.

On July 21, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to an assault complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on July 15, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he assaulted another individual. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest.  

On July 31, 2026, he was located by a member of the CPS, and while being taken into custody, it is further alleged the man resisted arrest. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, FRAUD, PERSONATION WITH INTENT, OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old woman from Arden, ON, was arrested on July 31, 2026, on the strength of several outstanding warrants.

It is alleged in the early morning hours of March 16, 2025, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence at all times. It is also alleged the woman failed to remain in her residence and defrauded a cab driver by refusing to pay fare. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. It is further alleged she gave police a false name. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of:

  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Personation with intent (identity fraud)
  • Obstruct peace officer

It is alleged on March 17, 2025, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business, as well as a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged she attended the Ninth Street West business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of:

  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting

It is alleged on April 3, 2025, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is further alleged on this date, she attended the Ninth Street West business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of fail to comply with release order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on April 10, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged she attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

On July 31, 2026, she was located at the courthouse. The warrants were executed and the woman was returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, POSSESSION PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 31, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. It is alleged on July 31, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he was in possession of a stolen boat. The man was taken into custody by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and subsequently turned over to the CPS. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – A 54-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 31, 2026, and charged with operation while prohibited. On July 31, 2026, CPS officers responded to a motor vehicle collision, and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man was allegedly operating a motorcycle while prohibited. He was subsequently located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on Aug. 1, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). In the early morning hours of Aug. 1, 2026, a CPS officer initiated a traffic stop as a result of a Highway Traffic Act violation, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 26, 2026.

BREAK AND ENTER, FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO RESIST ARREST

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 1, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest

In the early morning hours of March 30, 2026, police were dispatched to a break and enter complaint at a Pitt Street business, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into a Pitt Street business with the intent to commit an indictable offence. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.

It is alleged on Aug. 1, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged the man attended a Brookdale Avenue business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged he attempted to assault the Loss Prevention Officer at the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT, EXTORTION, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 2, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Four counts of domestic assault
  • Two counts of forcible confinement
  • Extortion
  • Mischief under $5,000

On Aug. 1, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on four separate occasions, the man assaulted his wife and on two separate occasions, he unlawfully confined the woman. It is further alleged the man threatened to share intimate images of his wife if she contacted police or a lawyer, and he damaged the woman’s property. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 2, 2026, the man was located by CPS officers. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT, UTTERING THREATS, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 2, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Domestic assault
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Theft under $5,000

In the early morning hours of Aug. 2, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to investigate an assault. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged he assaulted his ex-girlfriend and her friend. It is further alleged the man threatened to kill the other individual and stole his property. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. Later on Aug. 2, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 2, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and assault. On Aug. 2, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to an assault complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he punched an individual. The man was subsequently located and taken into police custody. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 49-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 3, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on June 16, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to attend court as per undertaking. On Aug. 3, 2026, police were dispatched to a welfare complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located and taken into police custody. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 3, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting. It is alleged on April 8, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Aug. 3, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on Aug. 4, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. On Sept. 9, 2025, a member of the CPS was dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not contact or communicate in any way either directly or indirectly with his ex-girlfriend. He was also bound by a second probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged the man attempted to communicate with his ex-girlfriend via a third party. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of three counts of fail to comply with probation order. In the early morning hours of Aug. 4, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was investigating an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and he was later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.
