SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 4, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Feb. 17, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a Cornwall Police Service officer developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 4, 2026, the man was located at the courthouse. He was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.
POSSESSION INCENDIARY MATERIAL, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 4, 2026, and charged with possession of incendiary material and mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. On July 30, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to a trouble with youth call at a park in the City of Cornwall following ongoing issues reported at the location. It is alleged on this date, the youth was in possession of incendiary material and attempted to ignite a fire at the park. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 4, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 4, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on July 23, 2026, the woman attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest. On Aug. 4, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.
IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Dunnville, ON, was arrested on Aug. 5, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). In the early morning hours of Aug. 5, 2026, a CPS officer conducted a traffic stop to check the sobriety of a motorist. The ensuing investigation revealed the man was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 27, 2026.
CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 70 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8 a.m. yesterday to 8 a.m. today).
