SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 49-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on May 14, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Aug. 6, 2026, the man was located at the courthouse. He was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

THEFT, FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, both of Cornwall, were arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, and each charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on July 4, 2026, the couple stole an individual’s e-bike. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a member of the Cornwall Police Service developed reasonable and probable grounds for their arrests.

It is further alleged on July 15, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. Reasonable and probable grounds were once again developed for his arrest.

It is also alleged on Aug. 5, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.

On Aug. 6, 2026, the couple attended police headquarters to address the matters.

The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026. The warrant for the woman’s arrest was executed, she was charged accordingly and also released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 68-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, and charged with four counts of fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on July 25, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not be within 200 metres of any place he knows a specific individual to live, work, frequent or any place he knows her to be, to not be in the company of or communicate with females under the age of 16 years and to not attend a public park where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present. It is further alleged on this date, the man was within 200 metres of the specific individual at a park in the City of Cornwall. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Aug. 5, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Morrisburg was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting. It is alleged on July 13, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. Reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Aug. 6, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on July 28, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to attend for court as per undertaking. On Aug. 6, 2026, the woman was located and taken into custody by CPS detectives. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 2, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Aug. 6, 2026, the woman was located and taken into custody by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants and additionally charged with one count of fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on Aug. 10, 2025, Aug. 11, 2025, Aug. 23, 2025, Sept. 4, 2025, and Nov. 15, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on these dates, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted after each occurrence and investigations ensued. Warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest on the charges of 10 counts of fail to comply with probation order and five counts of theft under $5,000.

It is further alleged on Sept. 9, 2025, the man stole an individual’s e-bike outside a Second Street East business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000.  

Finally, it is also alleged on Nov. 16, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged on this date, he attended another Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

On Aug. 6, 2026, the man was located and taken into custody by a CPS officer, who was conducting general patrol. The warrants were executed, he was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.

DANGEROUS OPERATION, FLIGHT FROM PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Williamsburg, ON, was arrested on Aug. 6, 2026, and charged with dangerous operation and flight from peace officer. On July 20, 2026, members of the CPS were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the area of Brookdale Avenue. It is alleged on this date, the man operated a motor vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public and failed to stop when directed to do so at a RIDE program. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Aug. 6, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 7, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on April 25, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. In the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2026, the youth was located by police, who were dealing with an unrelated matter at a Pitt Street establishment. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.

FAIL TO COMPLY, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 7, 2026, and charged with five counts of fail to comply with sentence order and two counts of mischief – destroys or damages property.

On July 28, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to investigate a mischief complaint. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a youth sentence order with the relevant conditions to notify the provincial director of any change of address, to live at a place approved by the youth worker in advance, to not contact or communicate in any way with a specific individual and to not be within 50 metres of any place he knows the individual to live, work, frequent or any place he knows the person to be. It is alleged on July 28, 2026, the man damaged an individual’s property. Further investigation reveled he allegedly failed to notify the provincial director of a change of address, failed to live at a place approved by the youth worker and was also in contact with the individual he was prohibited from communicating with. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.

In the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2026, the man was located by police at a Pitt Street establishment. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

It is also alleged that later on Aug. 7, 2026, the man was bound by a sentence order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged that while in police custody, he damaged property belonging to the City of Cornwall. The man was advised of the new charges and held for a bail hearing.

UTTERING THREATS, DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old man from Lancaster was arrested on Aug. 7, 2026, and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – domestic and one count of domestic assault. In the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a disturbance complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family member. It is further alleged he spit on the woman. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. He was subsequently located and taken into custody by police at a Pitt Street establishment. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
