FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, and charged with fail to comply. It is alleged on Nov. 13, 2023, the youth was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not communicate with another specific youth. It is also alleged on Nov. 28, 2023, the youth communicated with that individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 1, 2023, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Cameron Malenfant, 24, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on June 27, 2023, the man was in possession of stolen property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 1, 2023, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, the warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2024.

POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Cornwall, ON – Shawn Whitford, 33, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, and charged with possession of child pornography. It is alleged on Sept. 22, 2023, the man uploaded a suspected child pornography video on social media. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man was in possession of child pornography. On Dec. 1, 2023, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 16, 2024.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Dec. 1, 2023, the woman assaulted her ex-boyfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was released to appear in court on Jan. 9, 2024. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

FRAUD UNDER $5,000

Cornwall, ON – Megan Lozo, 24, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, and charged with fraud under $5,000. It is alleged on Dec. 1, 2023, the woman attended a Ninth Street business, removed price stickers off merchandise and placed them onto other items. She then paid for the items and left the store, at which point she was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Roxanne Cook, 36, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Nov. 30, 2023, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Dec. 1, 2023, the woman was located, taken into custody and the warrant was executed. She was released to appear in court on Dec. 28, 2023.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Michelle David, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged between June 19, 2023, and Aug. 24, 2023, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to report to a probation officer and to notify the court or probation officer of any change of name or address. She failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged on Nov. 30, 2023, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Dec. 1, 2023, the woman was located, taken into custody and the warrants were executed. She was held for a bail hearing. 

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Christina Smoke, 49, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 1, 2023, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged between July 25, 2023, and Aug. 31, 2023, the woman was bound by a probation order to report to a probation officer, reside at a residence approved by the probation officer and to notify the court or probation officer of a change of name or address. She failed to do so and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On Dec. 1, 2023, the woman was located, taken into custody and the warrants were executed. She was held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Joshua Cloutier, 36, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 2, 2023, on the strength of outstanding warrant. It is alleged the man was bound by probation orders with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on Aug. 26, 2023, the man attended a Ninth Street business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 2, 2023, the man was located, taken into custody and the warrant was executed. He was released to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2024.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, UTTERING THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Safy Benaissa, 36, of Kingston, was arrested on Dec. 2, 2024 and charged with the following:  

• Assault
• Assault with a weapon
• Uttering threats
• Fail to comply

It is alleged on Dec. 3, 2021, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on Nov. 18, 2023, the man assaulted his roommate with an object and made threats to the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 2, 2023, the man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2024.

FAIL TO COMPLY, OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER, ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY

Cornwall, ON – Joey Laurin, 27, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 2, 2023, and charged with the following:

• Fail to comply
• Obstruct peace officer
• Escape lawful custody

It is alleged on Oct. 24, 2023, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to reside with a surety at a specific residence, to not be within 150 metres of a specific individual, to not attend a specific residence and to not possess any weapons. It is also alleged on Nov. 15, 2022, the man was bound by a probation officer with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Furthermore, it is alleged on Dec. 2, 2023, police were contacted on a separate matter and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man gave police a false name and a knife was located on his person. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – James Labelle, 36, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2023, and charged with fail to comply. It is alleged between Jan. 18, 2023, and Jan. 20, 2023, the man was bound by a probation order to report in person to a probation officer. He failed to do so and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 2, 2023, the man was located during an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2024.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – John Martinek, 34, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2023, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Dec. 2, 2023, the man punched another individual known to him in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2023.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Dec. 3, 2023, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Nov. 6, 2023, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with his ex-girlfriend. It is also alleged on April 19, 2022, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not contact his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged on Nov. 6, 2023, the man contacted his ex-girlfriend by telephone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 3, 2023, the man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Yohanna Nalvarte De La Cruz, 35, of Ingleside, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2023, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. It is alleged on Dec. 3, 2023, police were contacted in regards to a possible impaired driver in the area of Queen Street and Wallrich Avenue. The woman was located and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed she was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The woman was taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was released to appear in court on Dec. 19, 2023.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Dec. 3, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged the youth was scheduled to attend court on Nov. 14, 2023, and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 3, 2023, the youth was located, taken into custody and the warrant was executed. He was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

FAIL TO COMPLY, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF WEAPON, POSSESSION OF FIREARM OR AMMUNITION, CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – Joshua Arsenault, 36, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2023, and charged with the following:

• Two counts fail to comply with undertaking
• Unauthorized possession of weapon
• Two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order
• Carrying concealed weapon

It is alleged on June 8, 2023, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with a specific individual and to no possess prohibited weapons. Furthermore, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not possess restricted weapons. It is also alleged on Dec. 3, 2023, police responded to a suspicious person complaint. The man was located at the residence alongside the specific individual he was to not have contact with. During the investigation, several weapons were found. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
