WARRANT, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Laplante, 41, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Sept. 9, 2024, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 5, 2024, the woman attended police headquarters to address another matter. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on Jan. 9, 2025.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Michel Lecompte, 67, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Nov. 9, 2024, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to notify the CPS of any change of address within 24 hours. It is also alleged on this date, the man breached the condition of his undertaking. On Dec. 5, 2024, the man was located by police. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.  

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Mohammed Chughtai, 29, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 3, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 5, 2024, the man was located by police who were dealing with a separate matter. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on Jan. 9, 2025.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, and charged with domestic assault with a weapon and domestic mischief. It is alleged on Dec. 5, 2024, the man threw cups at his girlfriend and damaged her property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Dec. 31, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Dec. 4, 2024, and Dec. 5, 2024, the youth attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store on each occasion without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 5, 2024, the youth was located by police. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Their name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Dec. 4, 2024, and Dec. 5, 2024, the youth attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store on each occasion without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 5, 2024, the youth was located by police. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Their name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

There were 47 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8 a.m. yesterday to 8 a.m. today). CPS reserves the right to not post all calls for service in order to protect the identity of the victims.
