DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT
Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 31, 2024, and charged with the following:
- Domestic assault
- Domestic assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement
It is alleged on Jan. 27, 2024, the man assaulted his girlfriend, assaulted her with an object and confined the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 31, 2024, the man was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – Chantal Leblanc, 56, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 31, 2024, and charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000. It is alleged on Jan. 31, 2024, the woman was in possession of a weapon and damaged property with the weapon. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 7, 2024.
FAIL TO COMPLY, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF FIREARM, POSSESSION OF FIREARM, CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT INDICTABLE OFFENCE
Cornwall, ON – On Jan. 31, 2024, the CPS responded to a weapon’s call and an investigation ensued.
Ryan Whitford, 30, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Three counts fail to comply with probation order
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Two counts possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Two counts conspiracy to commit indictable offence
It is alleged on Jan. 31, 2024, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged the man was bound by a separate probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess and weapons. Furthermore, it is alleged the man was bound by a third probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man was in possession of a firearm and conspired to commit indictable offences. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.
Additionally, Samantha Derouchie, 31, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Two counts conspiracy to commit indictable offence
It is alleged on Jan. 31, 2024, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the woman was in possession of a firearm and conspired to commit indictable offences. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was held for a bail hearing.
UTTERING DEATH THREATS
Cornwall, ON – James Twigg, 28, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 31, 2024, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on Jan. 7, 2024, the man made threats to kill another individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 31, 2024, the man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Francis Desjardins, 33, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 31, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Sept. 7, 2023, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Jan. 31, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and the man was released to appear in court on March 7, 2024.
WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Jan. 31, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Sept. 27, 2023, the youth was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. It is also alleged on Jan. 31, 2024, the youth was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not contact or communicate with another youth known to him. Furthermore, it is alleged on this date, he was in contact with the individual. On Jan. 31, 2024, police were dealing with a separate matter when the youth was located. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and the warrant was also executed. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Justice Criminal Act.
