DANGEROUS OPERATION, CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, CARELESS USE OF FIREARM, FAILURE TO STOP
Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on Feb. 12, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Dangerous operation
- Failure to stop after accident
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
On Feb. 7, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to the area of Brookdale Avenue and Ninth Street West following a motor vehicle collision in which one of the involved individuals allegedly brandished a weapon. An investigation ensued.
It is alleged on this date, the man operated a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner and failed to remain at the scene of the collision. It is further alleged he was in possession of a firearm and brandished the weapon before fleeing the area.
As a result of an extensive investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest.
On Feb. 12, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
UTTERING THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 12, 2026, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. On Feb. 12, 2026, a CPS officer began investigating a hate/bias-related threat complaint. It is alleged on Feb. 11, 2026, the youth made threats toward an individual known to him through a social media application. The threats are alleged to be hate-based in nature, as they included multiple homophobic and transphobic comments. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. Later, on Feb. 12, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was subsequently released to appear in court at a later date.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 13, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. Late on Feb. 12, 2026, members of the CPS responded to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his girlfriend. In the early morning hours of Feb. 13, 2026, he was located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 10, 2026.
