SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 5, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on June 4, 2025, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted an and investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.  

It is further alleged on June 18, 2025, and on Nov. 20, 2025, the woman attended the same Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise on both occasions and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted an and investigation ensued. Reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the woman’s arrest.  

On Feb. 5, 2026, police were dispatched to a Ninth Street East business for a shoplifting incident. The woman was taken into custody by the business’ Loss Prevention Officer and subsequently turned over to a Cornwall Police Service officer. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 12, 2026.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 5, 2026, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Feb. 4, 2026, the youth assaulted her mother. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Feb. 5, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
