FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 6, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Nov. 17, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Feb. 6, 2026, the woman was located by a Cornwall Police Service officer at the courthouse. She was charged accordingly and returned to cells for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 6, 2026, and charged with two counts of break and enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence and one count of theft under $5,000.

It is alleged on Feb. 2, 2026, the man attempted to break into a Water Street East building with the intent to commit an indictable offence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

It is also alleged on Feb. 6, 2026, the man broke into a Pitt Street business and stole cash. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

As a result of the investigations, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Feb. 6, 2026, he attended police headquarters for an unrelated matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 6, 2026, and charged with breach of recognizance and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on Feb. 6, 2026, the youth was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date he threatened to harm an individual known to him at school. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was located by police and taken into custody. He was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and released to appear in court at a later date.

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 7, 2026, and charged with four counts of fail to comply with undertaking and one count of domestic assault. In the early morning hours of Feb. 7, 2026, members of the CPS responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with his girlfriend or her grandmother and to not be within 50 metres of his girlfriend or grandmother’s person, place of residence, employment or any place they may be. It is further alleged the man attended the residence shared by his girlfriend and grandmother and assaulted his girlfriend. The man was subsequently located by a member of the CPS. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 7, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Four counts of domestic assault with a weapon
  • Three counts of domestic assault
  • Two counts of mischief – destroys or damages property

On Feb. 6, 2026, a member of the CPS commenced an investigation into allegations of historic intimate partner violence. It is alleged:

  • On Oct. 30, 2025, the woman assaulted her boyfriend
  • In early November, the woman damaged her boyfriend’s property
  • On Nov. 11, 2025, the woman assaulted her boyfriend with a utensil
  • On Nov. 30, 2025, the woman assaulted her boyfriend and assaulted him with an edged weapon
  • On Dec. 14, 2025, the woman assaulted her boyfriend, assaulted him with an edged weapon as well as a bottle, and damaged the man’s property

As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the woman’s arrest. On Feb. 7, 2026, she attended police headquarters to address the matter. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 3, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 7, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Feb. 7, 2026, the youth was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with a specific individual and to not enter 100 metres of that person. It is further alleged on this date, the youth was in contact with the individual he was prohibited from communicating with. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was subsequently located by a CPS officer. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 7, 2026, and charged with domestic mischief. On Feb. 7, 2026, members of the CPS responded to a family dispute, and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man punched a hole in the wall at the residence. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was subsequently released to appear in court on March 3, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPY, BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 9, 2026, and charged with four counts of fail to comply with sentence order and four counts of breach of recognizance. It is alleged on Feb. 5, Feb. 6, Feb. 7 and Feb. 8, 2026, the youth was bound by a sentence order with the relevant condition to abide by a curfew during specified hours, as well as by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged the youth breached his curfew on these dates. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. In the early morning hours of Feb. 9, 2026, the youth was located by a CPS officer. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.
