SEXUAL ASSAULT, INTIMIDATION, UTTERING THREATS, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 9, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Three counts sexual assault
  • Four counts sexual interference
  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Invitation to sexual touching under 16
  • Indecent exposure to a person under 16
  • Intimidation
  • Uttering threats
  • Forcible confinement

It is alleged the man sexually assaulted his step-daughter on several occasions. It is also alleged, he exposed himself to, made threats to, confined and intimidated her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 9, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 22, 2024. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – James Clermont, 38, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 9, 2024, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000. It is alleged on Dec. 29, 2023, and Jan. 2, 2024, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. On Jan. 9, 2024, the man returned to the business, police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 13, 2024.   

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 9, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 31, 2023, the man was bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man damaged his girlfriend’s property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest. On Jan. 9, 2024, he was located while police were dealing with a separate matter. The warrant was executed and the man was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Jan. 9, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 12, 2023, the youth was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Jan. 9, 2024, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Justice Criminal Act.
