FAIL TO COMPLY, OPERATION WHILE IMPAIRED
Cornwall, ON – Christopher Degonzaque, 52, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Jan. 24, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and operation while impaired by drug. It is alleged on Jan. 24, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. On Jan. 24, 2025, a Cornwall Police Service officer responded to a suspicious vehicle call and an investigation ensued. The man was located and the investigation revealed he was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 20, 2025.
IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – Amal Nath, 27, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 24, 2025, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. On Jan. 24, 2025, a member of the CPS conducted a traffic stop and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 20, 2025.
BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE
Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on Jan. 25, 2025, and charged with breach of recognizance. It is alleged on Jan. 25, 2025, the woman was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to not be within a 150 metre radius of her ex-boyfriend. It is also alleged on this date, the woman drove by her ex-boyfriend’s residence numerous times, yelling at the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 6, 2025. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 25, 2025, and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on Jan. 25, 2025, the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 18, 2025. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – Jean-Louis Laberge, 42, of Williamstown, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2025, and charged with impaired operation. On Jan. 25, 2025, a member of the CPS was dispatched to the Canada Border Services Agency, where a man was in custody for impaired operation. An investigation ensued, revealing the man was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 11, 2025.
WARRANTS, FAIL TO COMPLY, FAIL TO ATTEND, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, OVERCOME RESISTANCE BY ATTEMPTING TO SUFFOCATE, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 26, 2025, on the strength of outstanding warrants and charged with the following:
- Seven counts of fail to comply with probation order
- Six counts of fail to comply with release order
- Fail to attend court
- Four counts of domestic assault
- Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person
- Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
It is alleged from March 10, 2020, to July 21, 2021, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to report in person to a probation officer, to notify the court or probation officer in advance of any change of name or address, to live at a place approved by the probation officer and to attend and actively participate in all assessment, counselling or rehabilitative programs as directed by the probation officer. It is also alleged from March 10, 2020, to July 21, 2021, the man breached his probation order conditions. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Feb. 18, 2021, members of the CPS responded to a domestic dispute and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place his ex-girlfriend is known to live, work or frequent. It is also alleged on this date, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact or communicate with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place his ex-girlfriend is known to live, work or frequent. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and communicated with her. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
It is alleged on Feb. 23, 2021, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
It is alleged on Aug. 5, 2021, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of her. It is also alleged on this date, the man was in communication with his ex-girlfriend and punched her in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
It is alleged on Dec. 22, 2021, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact or communicate with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place his ex-girlfriend is known to live, work or frequent. It is also alleged on this date, the man was in communication with his ex-girlfriend. Furthermore, it is alleged, he assaulted and attempted to suffocate the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
It is alleged on Nov. 12, 2024, the man punched his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for the man’s arrest.
On Jan. 7, 2025, members of the CPS responded to a disturbance and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man punched his girlfriend in the face and choked her. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
On Jan. 26, 2025, several members of the CPS responded to an unwanted person complaint and an investigation ensued. The man once again fled the scene but he was later located by police.
The warrants were executed, the man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victims in the matter.
BREAK AND ENTER, THEFT
Cornwall, ON – Abigail Edgley, 19, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 26, 2025, and charged with break and enter a dwelling house – commit indictable offence and theft under $5,000. On Jan. 25, 2025, police responded to a break and enter complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman broke into the residence of an individual known to her and stole a bank card. On Jan. 26, 2025, the woman was located by a CPS officer who was on general patrol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 20, 2025.

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Tessier, 30, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 26, 2025, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Break and enter a dwelling house – commit indictable offence
- Theft under $5,000

Cornwall, ON – Mathieux Doucet, 33, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 26, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Jan. 2, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Montreal Road business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. On Jan. 26, 2025, police responded to a suspicious person complaint and an investigation ensued. The man was located, the warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on March 6, 2025.
POINTING A FIREARM, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, CARELESS USE OF FIREARM
Cornwall, ON – Rachel Westerhuis, 60, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan 26, 2025, and charged with the following:
- Two counts of pointing a firearm
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
On Jan. 26, 2025, police responded to a weapons complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was in possession of a weapon and pointed it at two individuals. She was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on March 6, 2025.
FAIL TO COMPLY, BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE
Cornwall, ON – Donald Labelle, 60, of Bonville, was arrested on Jan. 27, 2025, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with release order
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Breach of recognizance
It is alleged on Jan. 27, 2025, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to reside with his surety and to remain on his property at all times. It is also alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order as well as a recognizance, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. On Jan. 27, 2025, police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint and an investigation ensued. The man was located by police and the investigation revealed he had breached his release and probation orders as well as his recognizance. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
