ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Dec. 29, 2023, and charged with seven counts of domestic assault and two counts of domestic mischief. It is alleged between March 10, 2016 and Dec. 17, 2023, the man assaulted his partner and damaged property in the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 29, 2023, the man was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 23, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THEFT, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Steven Hopps, 51, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Dec. 29, 2023, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Breach of recognizance
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

It is alleged on Dec. 29, 2023, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he was bound by a prohibition order with the relevant condition to not possess any weapons. Furthermore, it is alleged on this date, he was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not possess weapons. Finally, it is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a recognizance peace bond with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged on Dec. 29, 2023, the man attended a Ninth Street business, removed merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed that when he was arrested by the Loss Prevention Officer, the man allegedly removed an edged weapon from his bag and swung it toward the officer. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

MISCHIEF, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – Ida Schell, 72, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 29, 2023, and charged with mischief and criminal harassment. It is alleged from Nov. 20, 2023, to Dec. 3, 2023, the woman trespassed onto her neighbour’s property and harassed her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 29, 2023, the woman was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Sarah Mayer-Belanger, 31, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 29, 2023, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged on Feb. 23, 2023, the woman was scheduled to attend police headquarters to be fingerprinted and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged that on April 6, 2023, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged on April 19, 2023, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged on Aug. 14, 2023, the woman attended a Ninth Street business, selected merchandise, and left the store without attempting to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for her arrest. Furthermore, it is alleged on Aug. 26, 2023, the woman attended a Ninth Street business, selected merchandise, and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for her arrest. Furthermore, it is alleged on Sept. 30, 2023, the woman brandished an edged weapon and took property from an individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Dec. 29, 2023, the woman was located during an unrelated incident. The warrants were executed and she was held for a bail hearing. OBSTRUCTION, WEAPONS, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – On Dec. 29, 2023, police were dispatched to the area of Brookdale Avenue in regards to a male and female suspect. Police located the suspects and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, it is alleged both parties provided false identification. The parties were identified and it was revealed the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was also taken into custody. While being taken into custody, police located an edged weapon. It was revealed the woman was also bound by a release order and prohibition order with the relevant conditions to not possess any weapons. She was also subject to multiple outstanding warrants. As a result of the investigation, both parties were charged as follows:

  • Joshua Cloutier, 36, of Cornwall, was charged with obstruction and fail to comply with probation.
  • Sarah Belanger-Mayer, 31, of Cornwall, was charged with obstruction, possession of a weapon and fail to comply with releaser order and prohibition order.

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing.

POSSESSION FOR PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING

Cornwall, ON – On Dec. 30, 2023, police conducted a traffic stop which developed into a criminal investigation. It is alleged during the investigation, police located a weapon and currency on the driver. Inside the vehicle, police located multiple quantities of drugs. It was also revealed the driver was bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess and weapons. As a result of the investigation, the driver and passengers were arrested and charged as follows:

  • Scott Julien, 35, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of fail to comply with probation, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was held for a bail hearing.
  • Ryan Balston, 32, of Cornwall, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.
  • Sarah McKenzie, 30, of Cornwall, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. She was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

POSSESSION OF SCHEDULED SUBSTANCE, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Jason Gougeon, 44, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2023, and charged with possession of a scheduled substance and fail to comply with probation order. It is alleged on Dec. 31, 2023, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged on this date, the man was in possession of a scheduled substance. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 22, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Travis Cook, 41, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Nov. 16, 2023, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 31, 2023, the man was located by police on a separate matter. He was taken into custody and the warrant was executed. He was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jeremy Rozon, 43, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Nov. 7, 2023, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 31, 2023, the man was located, the warrant was executed, and he was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

DRUGS

Cornwall, ON – Maurice Bissonnette, 63, of Kingston, ON, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2023, and charged with possession. It is alleged on Dec. 31, 2023, the man attended the Port of Entry and was investigated by Border Services Officers. It is alleged during the investigation, a quantity of drugs was located. The man was taken into custody and turned over to members of CPS. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024. 

CAUSE DAMAGE OR INJURY TO ANIMAL

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Craig, 49, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2023, and charged with causing damage or injury to animal. It is alleged the woman failed to provide suitable/adequate food, water, shelter to her dogs and cats. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 31, 2023, the woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024. The pets were removed from the residence.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 61-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on Dec. 31, 2023, and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on Dec. 31, 2023, the woman assaulted her ex-boyfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024, and charged with domestic mischief. It is alleged on Jan. 1, 2024, the man damaged his ex-girlfriend’s property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 23, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

UTTERING THREATS, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSES

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Uttering threats to damage property
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

It is alleged on Jan. 1, 2024, the youth threatened to cause harm to an individual and damage their residence. It is also alleged the youth was in possession of a sharp-edged weapon. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Justice Criminal Act.

UTTERING THREATS, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSES

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Smith, 45, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to damage property
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon

It is alleged on Jan. 1, 2024, the man entered another individual’s residence and assaulted the man. It is also alleged the man was in possession of an edged-weapon and threatened to cause harm to the individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on Feb. 1, 2024.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Abhishek Kuttiyanickal, 26, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. It is alleged on Jan. 1, 2024, police observed a vehicle being driven dangerously in the area of McConnell Avenue and Second Street. An investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 25, 2024.  

WARRANT, BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Ottawa woman was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged on Sept. 13, 2023, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, and to not contact her ex-boyfriend. It is also alleged on this date, the woman was bound by a second probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged, the woman made several attempts to contact her ex-boyfriend. Police were contacted, an investigation ensued and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On Jan. 1, 2024, the woman was located, the warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

REFUSAL

Cornwall, ON – Brenda Laframboise, 66, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024, and charged with refusal. It is alleged on Jan. 1, 2024, police were contacted to investigate a potential impaired driver. During the investigation, the woman refused to provide a suitable sample of her breath. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on Jan. 25, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Natasha Lalonde, 39, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to CPS twice per week by telephone or in person and advise of her current address. She failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On Jan. 2, 2024, the woman was located and the warrant was executed. She was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Shawn Nesbitt, 34, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 14, 2023, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Jan. 2, 2024, the man was located on a separate police matter. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Ashley Larocque, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged between Aug. 25, 2022, and Oct. 28, 2022, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to report in person to a probation officer. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Jan. 2, 2024, the woman was located on a separate matter. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on Jan. 30, 2024.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on Jan. 2, 2024, and charged with domestic assault with a weapon. It is alleged on Jan. 2, 2024, the woman assaulted her partner with a weapon. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 2, 2024, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 23, 2024. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Zachary Myers, 27, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with assault with a weapon and administer noxious substance. It is alleged on Oct. 20, 2023, the man administered a noxious substance to a person known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Jan. 2, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 2, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with assault, mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000. It is alleged on Dec. 11, 2023, the man assaulted his girlfriend, damaged property in the residence and took her personal belongings. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest. On Jan. 2, 2023, the man was located, the warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 72-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Nov. 15, 2023, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not be within 250 metres of any place his ex-girlfriend is known to live, work or frequent. It is alleged on this date, the man was within 250 metres of his ex-girlfriend’s workplace. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 3, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

FAIL TO COMPLY, THREATS, INTIMIDATION, DANGEROUS OPERATION, PERSONATING PEACE OFFICER, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – Kenneth Akey, 35, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Intimidation
  • Dangerous operation
  • Two counts of personating peace officer
  • Two counts assault with a weapon
  • Four counts failing to comply with prohibition order

It is alleged on Dec. 12, 2023, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged on this date, the man followed and intimidated a delivery person while driving dangerously. It is also alleged the man impersonated a peace officer buy identifying as a police officer and displaying false credentials. It is alleged he also made threats to the individual. Furthermore, it is alleged the man yielded an edged weapon and made further threats. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, it was revealed the man was bound by four separate prohibition orders with the relevant condition to not operate a motor vehicle. On Jan. 3, 2024, the man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Ian MacMillan, 62, of Williamstown, was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, and charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on Jan. 3, 2024, the man attended a Ninth Street business, selected merchandise, and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, POSSESSION OF SCHEDULED SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – Austin Emmerson, 25, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of scheduled substance

It is alleged on Jan. 3, 2024, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Ninth Street business, selected merchandise, and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man was also in possession of a scheduled substance. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.

DRUGS

Cornwall, ON – John Fisher, 36, of South Stormont, was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, and charged with possession. It is alleged on Jan. 3, 2024, the man attended the Port of Entry and was investigated by Border Service Officers. It is alleged during the investigation, a quantity of drugs was located. The man was taken into custody and turned over to members of CPS. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 8, 2024.
