FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on July 9, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants.
It is alleged on Feb. 28, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend Cornwall Police Service headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting.
It is also alleged on March 6, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with appearance notice – court.
On July 9, 2026, the man was taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrants were executed and he was later released to appear in court on Aug. 11, 2026.
FRAUD
Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 9, 2026, and charged with fraud over $5,000. On April 14, 2026, a CPS officer began investigating a fraud complaint. It is alleged from Sept. 7, 2022, to Aug. 8, 2025, the woman made numerous false insurance claims. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest. On July 9, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 13, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 9, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting. It is alleged on June 16, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, she was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On July 9, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a trouble with youth complaint, and an investigation ensued. The woman was located and taken into police custody. She was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 11, 2026.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 9, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on July 7, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to attend court after having appeared. On July 9, 2026, the man was located by a CPS detective. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, UTTERING THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from The Nation, ON, was arrested on July 9, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.
On March 19, 2025, a CPS officer was dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on Feb. 14, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he assaulted his girlfriend. It is further alleged on March 18, 2025, the man threatened to cause bodily harm to the woman. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Domestic assault
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – domestic
On July 9, 2026, the man was taken into custody by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on July 9, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Breach of recognizance
- Assault with a weapon
It is alleged on June 29, 2026, the youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not possess any weapons as well as a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the youth assaulted an individual known to her with lumber. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On July 9, 2026, the youth was located by a CPS officer, who was dealing with a separate matter. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, BREAK AND ENTER
Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, both from Cornwall, were arrested on July 9, 2026, and each charged with fail to comply with probation order and break and enter a dwelling house – commit indictable offence. It is alleged on July 5, 2026, the couple broke into a motel room and stole several items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for their arrest. On July 9, 2026, the couple was located by a CPS officer. They were taken into custody, each charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 13, 2026.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 10, 2026, and charged with assault. In the early morning hours of July 10, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an unwanted person complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman punched an individual known to her in the head. She was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on Aug. 13, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, EXTORTION, POSSESSION AND DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION MATERIAL
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Greely, ON, was arrested on July 10, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with release order
- Extortion
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Possesses for the purpose of distribution child sexual abuse and exploitation material
On May 5, 2026, a detective with the CPS Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit began an investigation after receiving information that a video was being circulated at a school in the City of Cornwall. It is alleged between April 20, 2026, and May 6, 2026, the youth was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not be in the company of, or communicate by any physical, electronic, or other means with, females under the age of 14. It is further alleged the youth obtained a video depicting child sexual abuse and exploitation material from an individual under the age of 14 by making threats toward her. The investigation also revealed the youth allegedly possessed and distributed child sexual abuse and exploitation material. As a result of the investigation, the detective developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On July 10, 2026, CPS detectives located the youth and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING, FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT
Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 10, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Theft under $5,000
It is alleged on April 29, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.
It is also alleged on June 13, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, she stole gas from a Brookdale Avenue business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police once again developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest.
On July 10, 2026, a Special Constable at the Cornwall Courthouse advised police that the woman was in custody at the courthouse. She was subsequently charged accordingly and returned to custody to await a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 10, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Six counts of fail to comply with release order
- Domestic assault
- Criminal harassment – beset and watch complainant
On June 19, 2026, a CPS officer began investigating an intimate partner violence complaint. It is alleged on June 3, 2026, and June 16, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact or communicate in any way by physical, electronic or other means with his ex-girlfriend, to not be within 150 metres of any place he knows her to live, work or frequent and to not attend her residence. It is also alleged on June 3, 2026, the man was in contact with the woman and assaulted her. It is further alleged on June 16, 2026, he watched his ex-girlfriend’s residence, causing the woman to fear for her safety. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On July 10, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
CARELESS USE OF FIREARM, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF FIREARM, OCCUPANT OF MOTOR VEHICLE WITH FIREARM
Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 10, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
It is alleged on July 10, 2026, the man was in possession of an unauthorized firearm while inside a motor vehicle. He was subsequently located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on Aug. 18, 2026.
HARASSING COMMUNICATIONS
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 10, 2026, and charged with harassing communications. On June 19, 2026, police were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on June 17, 2026, the man harassed his ex-spouse by repeatedly communicating with her through telecommunications. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On July 10, 2026, the man was located by police, who were dealing with a separate matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 11, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 26, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared. On July 11, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 11, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On July 11, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman punched her girlfriend in the face. She was subsequently located by police. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF FIREARM, OCCUPANT OF MOTOR VEHICLE WITH FIREARM
Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm. In the early morning hours of July 12, 2026, a CPS officer was conducting speed enforcement in the City of Cornwall and initiated a traffic stop. In addition to a Highway Traffic Act violation, the investigation revealed the man was in possession of an unauthorized firearm while occupying a motor vehicle. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 18, 2026.
SHOPLIFTING, THEFT
Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and one count of theft under $5,000.
It is alleged on March 14, 2026, and March 27, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.
It is further alleged in the early morning hours of July 5, 2026, the man entered an individual’s porch and stole an item. Police were contacted an and investigation ensued. As a result, police once again developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.
On July 12, 2026, police were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was subsequently located by CPS officers. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 18, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 49-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.
It is alleged on nine separate occasions (Dec. 30, 2025, Jan. 16, 2026, Jan. 23, 2026, April 8, 2026, April 15, 2026, April 25, 2026, April 26, 2026, April 30, 2026, and May 6, 2026), the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on these dates, he attended a Brookdale Avenue business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempts to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on the charges of nine counts of fail to comply with probation order and nine counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.
It is further alleged on April 17, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.
On July 12, 2026, a CPS officer initiated a traffic stop in relation to an unrelated matter, and an investigation ensued. The man was located in the vehicle and taken into police custody. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order. On July 12, 2026, while investigating an unrelated matter, a CPS officer initiated a traffic stop involving the motor vehicle. It is alleged on this date, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not communicate or contact a specific individual. It is further alleged on this date, the woman was in contact with the individual she was prohibited from communicating with. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.
BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, UTTERING THREATS, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Break and enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Three counts of assault with a weapon
- Three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Mischief under $5,000
On July 12, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a disturbance complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into an individual’s residence, brandished an edged weapon and threatened three individuals with the weapon, causing them to fear for their safety and threatening to cause bodily harm to each of them. It is further alleged he damaged property inside the residence. The man was subsequently located by CPS officers. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE
Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Three counts of fail to comply with release order
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Theft of motor vehicle
It is alleged on July 11, 2026, the youth was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to remain in her residence at all times, to not operate or have control of a motor vehicle and to not possess any motor vehicle key fobs. She was also allegedly bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not be in the care and control of a motor vehicle. It is further alleged on this date, the youth failed to remain in her residence and stole her mother’s motor vehicle. On July 12, 2026, the youth was taken into custody by members of the Ottawa Police Service and subsequently turned over to the CPS. She was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, DANGEROUS OPERATION, FAIL TO STOP, IMPAIRED, OVER 80, POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE, POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE FOR PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING
Cornwall, ON – A 63-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 12, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Dangerous operation
- Failure to stop after accident
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – over 80
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
On July 12, 2026, members of the CPS were on general patrol in the City of Cornwall when they heard a loud bang. The officers subsequently observed a damaged vehicle in the area of Second Street East and initiated a traffic stop in relation to the incident. The ensuing investigation revealed the man was allegedly bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man drove his motor vehicle in a dangerous manner, striking a parked vehicle, and failed to stop after being involved in the collision. Further investigation revealed he was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was in possession of cocaine as well as items consistent with the distribution of illicit drugs. He was taken into police custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 11, 2026.
