FAIL TO COMPLY, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 55-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 18, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Four counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Criminal harassment - beset and watch complainant
  • Two counts of domestic mischief

It is alleged on Nov. 4, 2023, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to remain in his residence between specific hours, to not contact or communicate with his ex-wife or any members of her immediate family, to not be within 50 metres of any place where you know her to live, work or frequent and to not possess any cell phone, pager or personal digital assistant. It is also alleged on this date, the man followed his ex-wife and communicated with her. Furthermore, it is alleged he continuously sent messages to a relative of hers and made threats to damage her personal property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest. On July 18, 2024, he was located by police at the courthouse, where the man was dealing with a separate matter. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The man's name was not released to protect the identity of the victim. 

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – John Bazil, 50, of Cornwall, was arrested on July 18, 2024, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and two counts of theft under $5,000.

It is alleged on July 18, 2024, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on Aug. 27, 2024.

Later on July 18, 2024, after being released by the CPS, it is alleged the man was once again bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged, he once again attended the Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Maurice Jordan, 38, of Cornwall, was arrested on July 18, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 3, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On July 18, 2024, police located the man while dealing with a separate matter. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on Sept. 5, 2024.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 18, 2024, and charged with five counts of assault. It is alleged on July 17, 2024, the man assaulted his son on two separate occasions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man had also allegedly assaulted his son on three previous occasions. On July 18, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
