THEFT, BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 16, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Theft under $5,000
• Break and enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

It is alleged on June 13, 2026, the man stole lottery tickets from a Water Street East business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.

On July 7, 2026, a Community Safety Officer with the Cornwall Police Service was assigned to investigate a theft. It is alleged in the early morning hours of July 5, 2026, the man entered an individual’s property without permission, stole an item, and was in possession of a baseball bat. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were once again developed for his arrest.

On July 16, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 27, 2026.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old woman from Alexandria was arrested on July 16, 2026, and charged with operation while prohibited. On July 16, 2026, the woman was taken into custody by Ministry of Transportation officers and subsequently turned over to the CPS. It is alleged on this date, she was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The woman was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 27, 2026.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on July 16, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. On March 30, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a local high school in relation to an assault complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, he assaulted an individual at the school. A warrant was subsequently issued for the youth’s arrest on the charges of breach of recognizance and assault. On July 16, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and the youth was subsequently released to appear in court at a later date.

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 16, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Fail to comply with probation order
• Domestic assault
• Three counts of mischief – domestic

On July 16, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he assaulted his spouse. Finally, it is alleged the man previously damaged property inside the residence. He was subsequently located by CPS officers and taken into police custody. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 16, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On July 16, 2026, police received information that an individual had departed a Pitt Street establishment in a motor vehicle and was possibly impaired by alcohol. The man was subsequently located by police, and the investigation revealed he was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 11, 2026.  

THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 16, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on July 10, 2026, the woman stole property from an individual known to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On July 16, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was dealing with an unrelated matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 18, 2026.

THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Wasaga Beach, ON, was arrested on July 16, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Nov. 15, 2023, the man stole gas on two separate occasions from a Brookdale Avenue business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of theft under $5,000. On July 16, 2026, the man was taken into custody by members of York Regional Police. The warrant was executed on behalf of the CPS, and the man was released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on July 17, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on April 23, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the bail supervision program. It is further alleged he failed to report to the bail supervision program, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with release order. On July 17, 2026, the man was located at the courthouse. The warrant was executed and he remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 17, 2026, and charged with mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. On July 13, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to investigate a neighbour dispute. It is alleged on July 10, 2026, the man wilfully interrupted the lawful enjoyment of his neighbour’s property. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On July 17, 2026, the man was located by members of the CPS. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 17, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 22, 2026, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the CPS on a weekly basis. It is further alleged she failed to report to the CPS on May 22, 2026. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to comply with release order. On July 17, 2026, the woman was located at the courthouse. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 17, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on May 9, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

It is further alleged on May 26, 2026, the man attended the same Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and once again exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

On July 17, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was investigating an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.  

ASSAULT, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on July 17, 2026, and charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

It is alleged on June 13, 2026, the youth assaulted an individual known to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.

It is further alleged on July 17, 2026, the youth threatened to physically harm the individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was subsequently located by CPS officers, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.  

POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, CARELESS USE OF FIREARM, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, DOMESTIC ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 18, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Possession of firearm of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
• Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Firearm – use while committing offence
• Assault with a weapon – domestic
• Assault causing bodily harm – domestic

On July 18, 2026, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on July 17, 2026, the man was bound by a prohibition order with the relevant condition to not possess any firearm, crossbow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon or prohibited device. It is further alleged on this date, he assaulted his girlfriend with a BB gun, causing injuries. Further investigation revealed the man was allegedly in possession of a crossbow. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.

RESIST PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old woman was arrested on July 19, 2026, and charged with resist peace officer. On July 19, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a disturb the peace complaint, and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, and it is alleged that while she was being taken into police custody, she resisted arrest. The woman was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 19, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with undertaking and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 27, 2026, the woman was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not go to a specific business in the City of Cornwall. It is further alleged on this date, the woman attended the business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On July 19, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 13, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on July 19, 2026, and charged with fail to attend for fingerprints – as per undertaking. It is alleged on July 15, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. Reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On July 19, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Two individuals were arrested on July 19, 2026, after CPS officers were dispatched to a Pitt Street establishment in regard to a disturbance.

A 33-year-old man from Cornwall was charged with four counts of fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on July 19, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to remain in his residence daily between specific hours, to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-girlfriend, to not be within 250 metres of the woman and to not be impaired by alcohol or narcotics while outside of his residence. It is further alleged on this date, the man breached his curfew, was in contact with his ex-girlfriend and under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was charged with fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on July 19, 2026, the woman was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not be within 100 metres of her ex-boyfriend. It is further alleged on this date, she was in contact with the man.

The individuals were located by CPS officers, taken into custody and each charged accordingly. They were held for bail hearings.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80, POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on July 20, 2026, and charged with the following:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

In the early morning hours of July 20, 2026, members of the CPS were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program, when a motorist allegedly made a U-turn after approaching the checkpoint and fled the area. A CPS officer subsequently located the motorist and initiated a traffic stop. The ensuing investigation revealed the man was allegedly operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed he was allegedly in possession of cocaine. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Aug. 11, 2026.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 261 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last four days (8 a.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. today).
