Media Release - June 16, 2026

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on June 15, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 26, 2023, the woman attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. On June 15, 2026, the woman was located by a member of the Ontario Provincial Police Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad and subsequently turned over to the Cornwall Police Service. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on July 20, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on June 15, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged between Sept. 7, 2021, and Nov. 19, 2021, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to report in person to a probation officer immediately and to a probation officer via telephone within two working days of his release. It is further alleged he failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order. On June 15, 2026, the man was taken into custody by the Ottawa Police Service and subsequently turned over to a CPS officer. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on July 28, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on June 15, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 30, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with appearance notice – court. On June 15, 2026, the man was taken into custody by the Ottawa Police Service and subsequently turned over to a CPS officer. The warrant was executed and he was held in custody for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on June 15, 2026, and charged with assault. It is alleged on June 14, 2026, the woman assaulted an individual known to her by punching them in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On June 15, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 28, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 15, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 21, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting. On June 15, 2026, the man was taken into custody by the Ontario Provincial Police ROPE squad and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed and he was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man from Martintown, ON, was arrested on June 15, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 15, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into police custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on June 15, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

It is alleged between Dec. 15, 2025, and April 16, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to report in person to a probation officer within two working days of her release from custody and after that, at all times and places as directed by the probation officer. She failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to comply with probation order.

On June 15, 2026, the woman was taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to the CPS. It is also alleged on this date, she was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate with her boyfriend and to not be within 250 metres of any place she knows the man to live, work or frequent. It is further alleged on this date, the woman was in contact with the individual she was prohibited from communicating with. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and held in police custody for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, MISCHIEF, FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 15, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants and additionally charged with five counts of fail to comply with release order.  

It is alleged on May 11, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to remain in his residence at all times and to be subject to a GPS monitoring program and abide by all its rules. It is further alleged on this date, the man failed to remain in his residence and tampered/damaged the GPS device. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with release order and one count of mischief under $5,000.

It is alleged on March 25, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.

It is alleged on June 15, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to reside with a surety at a specific address in the City of Cornwall, to remain in his residence at all times, to not contact or communicate with his girlfriend, to not be within 100 metres of any place he knows his girlfriend to live, work or happen to be and to not possess any weapons. On this date, the man was taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The investigation revealed the man had been in contact with his girlfriend, failed to reside with his surety and remain at his residence and was also in possession of an edged weapon. The warrants were executed, he was charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing.
