DOMESTIC ASSAULT, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 24, 2024, and charged with domestic assault and uttering threats to damage property. It is alleged on May 23, 2024, the man kicked his girlfriend and threated to burn her house down. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 24, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 9, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Jason Cavers, 40, of Spencerville, ON, was arrested on June 24, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with appearance notice. It is alleged on June 7, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and failed to do so. An investigation ensued. On June 24, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 23, 2024.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old Martintown man was arrested on June 24, 2024, and charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference. It is alleged from Dec. 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, the man sexually assaulted his daughter and committed sexual interference by touching her for a sexual purpose. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 24, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 30, 2024. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Kootoo-Dupuis, 32, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 24, 2024, and charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on June 24, 2024, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the item. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on July 30, 2024.

UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – Kenneth Poitras, 58, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 24, 2024, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on June 23, 2024, the man threatened to harm his neighbour. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 24, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Aug. 8, 2024.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – Melanie Deschamps, 29, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 25, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on June 25, 2024, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. It is also alleged on this date, she failed to abide by her curfew. The woman was located by police during a traffic stop, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was released to appear in court on Aug. 22, 2024.

FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Jamie-Lee Corrigan, 38, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 25, 2024, and charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000. It is alleged on May 11, 2024, and May 17, 2024, the woman deposited fraudulent cheques. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 25, 2024, police located the woman and conducted a traffic stop. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Aug. 22, 2024.
