FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 24, 2026, and charged with three counts of fail to comply with release order. On June 19, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on June 11, 2026, and June 19, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to remain in his residence, to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-spouse and to not be within 200 metres of any place he knows her to live, work or frequent. It is further alleged on these dates, the man failed to remain in his residence and contacted his ex-spouse. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On June 24, 2026, the man was located at the courthouse. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 24, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on March 6, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On June 24, 2026, a CPS officer attended the correctional facility where the man is currently being held. He was charged accordingly and returned to custody to await a bail hearing.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 24, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Domestic assault
- Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
- Cruelty to animals – unnecessary pain, suffering or injury
On March 26, 2026, police were dispatched to a disturbance call, and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody and faced six charges of fail to comply with probation order. He appeared in court on March 3, 2026. Further investigation revealed the man assaulted and choked his ex-girlfriend and caused unnecessary pain to her dog by striking it. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the additional charges. On June 24, 2026, a CPS officer attended a correctional facility to arrest the man. He was charged accordingly and returned to his cell to await a bail hearing.
MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth from Williamstown, ON, was arrested on June 24, 2026, and charged with mischief – destroys or damages property. It is alleged on June 19, 2026, the youth threw rocks at the motor vehicle of an individual known to him, causing damage to the vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On June 24, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, UTTERING THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on June 24, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
- Two counts of assault with a weapon
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
It is alleged on June 23, 2026, the youth was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to not posses any weapons. It is further alleged that on this date, he was in possession of an edged weapon, pointed it at two individuals, constituting assault with a weapon, and threatened to physically harm them. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.
On June 24, 2026, the youth was taken into custody for an unrelated matter by a Loss Prevention Officer at a Second Street East business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and released to appear in court at a later date.
