Media Release - June 29, 2026

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, UTTERING THREATS, SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 24, 2026, and charged with the following: 

  • Three counts of assault
  • Three counts of assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Sexual assault

On June 1, 2026, the Cornwall Police Service began investigating a historical assault complaint. It is alleged the man assaulted his children, including by using household items, threatened to physically harm one of the children, and sexually assaulted his wife. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On June 24, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 16, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND, BREAK AND ENTER, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 26, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with the following:

  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Break and enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting

It is alleged on March 24, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.  

It is also alleged in the early morning hours of June 5, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, he broke into the mudroom of an individual’s residence and stole items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

It is alleged on June 21, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

On June 26, 2026, police were dispatched to a Vincent Massey Drive business in relation to an unwanted person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was subsequently located and taken into police custody. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 26, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order. It is alleged on June 23, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place he knows her to live, work or frequent. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and communicated with the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On June 26, 2026, the man was located by CPS officers. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO ATTEND, BREAK AND ENTER, MISCHIEF, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on June 26, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with the following:

  • Break and enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Theft over $5,000

It is alleged on June 16, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.

It is further alleged in the early morning hours of June 26, 2026, the woman broke into a Seventh Street West business, damaged property, and stole several items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.

Later on June 26, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. Following a brief foot pursuit, she was taken into police custody. The warrant was executed, the woman was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 27, 2026, and charged with mischief under $5,000. On June 27, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a Second Street East business in relation to a disturbance complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man damaged property at the business. The man was subsequently located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 30, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on June 27, 2026, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 13, 2026, and June 14, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On June 27, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 30, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 27, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 14, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, he attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On June 27, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 30, 2026.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-year old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 27, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On June 27, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a Thirteenth Street West establishment for a possible impaired driver, and an investigation ensued. The man was subsequently located and the investigation revealed he was allegedly operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 14, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on June 28, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants.

It is alleged on Jan. 16, 2026, and Feb. 13, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the CPS by phone on a weekly basis. It is further alleged on these dates, he failed to report to police. Two warrants were issued for his arrest, each for one count of failing to comply with a release order.

On June 28, 2026, the man was taken into custody by members of the Ottawa Police Service and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrants were executed and he was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on June 28, 2026, and charged with two counts of assault and one count of mischief – destroys or damages property. It is alleged on Dec. 13, 2025, the man assaulted two individuals and damaged the motor vehicle of one of the individuals. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On June 28, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on July 30, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on June 28, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 18, 2025, the youth was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to attend court. On June 28, 2026, police were dispatched to a local park in relation to a suspicious person, and an investigation ensued. The youth was subsequently located and taken into police custody. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court at a later date.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 180 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
