FAIL TO COMPLY, POSSESSION INCENDIARY MATERIAL, ARSON, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER
Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 27, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
- Possession of incendiary material
- Two counts of arson – damage to own property
- Three counts of assault a peace officer
It is alleged on Feb. 27, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, the man was in possession of a lighter and a torch for the purpose of committing the offence of arson and intentionally or recklessly caused damage by fire to a residential structure. The man was taken into custody, and it is further alleged he assaulted a member of the Cornwall Police Service.
A subsequent interaction on the same date allegedly resulted in the man kicking and spitting on a member of the CPS.
He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Akwesasne was arrested on Feb. 27, 2026, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Feb. 14, 2026, the youth assaulted an individual at a public facility. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Feb. 27, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 27, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged between Dec. 16, 2025, and Feb. 5, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to report in person to a probation officer, to notify the court or probation officer in advance of any change of name or address and to attend and actively participate in all assessment, counselling or rehabilitative programs as directed by the probation officer. He failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of three counts of fail to comply with probation order. On Feb. 27, members of the CPS responded to a disturbance call, and an investigation ensued. The man was located by police, the warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 27, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Feb. 24, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with appearance notice – court/fingerprinting. On Feb. 27, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to an unwanted person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located, the warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old woman from Ingleside, ON, was arrested on Feb. 28, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). In the early morning hours of Feb. 28, 2026, a CPS officer was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall and observed a motor vehicle which had allegedly crashed into a snowbank. The ensuing investigation revealed the woman was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 24, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, MISCHIEF, UTTERING THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 28, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Assault with a weapon – domestic
- Mischief – domestic
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
On Feb. 28, 2026, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged he threw a household item at his spouse, damaged her property and threatened to kill a member of her family. The man was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 28, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Feb. 28, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on April 7, 2026.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Feb. 28, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On Feb. 28, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to the area of Brookdale Avenue, where a motor vehicle had allegedly crashed into a snowbank. The ensuing investigation revealed the man was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 24, 2026.
REFUSAL
Cornwall, ON – A 59-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on March 2, 2026, and charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand. In the early morning hours of March 2, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to the area of Second Street East in regards to an impaired drive complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. While police were conducting an impaired operation investigation, he allegedly refused to comply with the demand to complete a standardized field sobriety test. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 26, 2026.
