ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 26, 2024, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Jan. 15, 2024, the youth assaulted an individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 26, 2024, the youth was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Florin Marin, 32, and Alexandra Marin, 36, both of Laval, QC, were arrested on March 26, 2024, and each charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on Feb. 29, 2024, the couple attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 26, 2024, they attended police headquarters to address the matter. The individuals were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for bail hearings.

SHOPLIFTING, BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – Brandon Van Loon, 26, of Cornwall, was arrested on March 26, 2024, and charged with break and enter a place - commit indictable offence and two counts of theft under $5,000. It is alleged:

  • On March 7, 2024, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On March 10, 2024, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the item. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On March 16, 2024, the man broke into a Pitt Street business and stole merchandise. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On March 26, 2024, the man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on May 2, 2024.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Kyle Dewar, 28, of St. Andrew’s West, was arrested on March 26, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Feb. 26, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 26, 2024, the man attended CPS to address the matter. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on May 2, 2024.
