UTTERING COUNTERFEIT MONEY, FRAUD
Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old man from Montreal was arrested on March 3, 2026, and charged with uttering counterfeit money and fraud under $5,000. It is alleged on Dec. 20, 2024, the man attended a Ninth Street East business in the City of Cornwall and proceeded with a purchase using counterfeit currency, defrauding the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On March 3, 2026, the man was taken into custody by a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and subsequently turned over to the Cornwall Police Service. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 21, 2026.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, UTTERING THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on March 3, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Domestic assault
- Three counts of assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
- Five counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
On March 3, 2026, police were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his spouse. Further investigation revealed he choked his spouse on three separate occasions. The man is also alleged to have made threats to kill the complainant and multiple members of the family. He was subsequently located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on March 3, 2026, and charged with four counts of fail to comply with probation order and two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged that twice on Dec. 1, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Second Street East business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Second Street East business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On March 3, 2026, the man was located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 7, 2026.
