ABANDONING CHILD
Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 8, 2026, and charged with abandoning child. On the evening of May 7, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to a Pitt Street establishment to investigate a report of a child allegedly left unattended inside a motor vehicle. The investigation revealed the woman unlawfully abandoned her child and acted in a manner that was likely to endanger the child’s life. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On May 8, 2026, the woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was later released to appear in court on June 16, 2026. The child was assessed by paramedics and did not sustain physical injuries.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on May 8, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 23, 2025, the youth was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for the individual’s arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared. On May 8, 2026, police responded to a disturbance, and an investigation ensued. The youth was located, the warrant was executed and they were held for a bail hearing.
ASSAULT WITH WEAPON
Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 8, 2026, and charged with assault with a weapon. It is alleged on May 7, 2026, the woman assaulted her son with a household item. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a CPS detective. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On May 8, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 16, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 54-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 8, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Feb. 3, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest. On May 8, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to investigate a suspicious motor vehicle. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on June 4, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 8, 2026, and charged with five counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of domestic assault. On May 8, 2026, CPS officers responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate in any way with her ex-boyfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place she knows him to live, work or frequent. She was also allegedly bound by a second probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not contact or communicate in any way with her ex-boyfriend. It is further alleged on this date, the woman was in contact with her ex-boyfriend and assaulted the man. She was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was held for a bail hearing.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. In the early morning hours of May 9, 2026, police were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend. He was subsequently located by CPS officers. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Jan. 14, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to comply with appearance notice – fingerprinting. In the early morning hours of May 9, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on June 16, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Theft under $5,000
- Assault
On May 9, 2026, CPS members responded to a disturbance at a Second Street East business, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged he stole items from the Second Street East business and assaulted a staff member. The man was subsequently located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Four counts of fail to comply with probation order
- Two counts of domestic assault
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
On May 9, 2026, CPS members were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation orders with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place he knows her to live, work or frequent, as well as a second probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man was in contact with his ex-girlfriend, assaulted the woman on two occasions and damaged her property. He was subsequently located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
DOMESTIC MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with domestic mischief. On May 9, 2026, police were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man damaged his girlfriend’s property. He was subsequently located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 9, 2026.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate. On May 9, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged the woman sent unwanted text communications, despite having been warned to cease contact. She was subsequently located by police. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On May 9, 2026, police were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman assaulted her spouse. She was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2026, and charged with mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective. It is alleged on May 9, 2026, while in custody awaiting a bail hearing, the man damaged property in the cell block area of police headquarters. He was charged accordingly and remained in custody pending a bail hearing.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM
Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old man from Prescott, ON, was arrested on May 10, 2026, and charged with domestic assault and assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle. On May 9, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged in the early morning hours of May 9, 2026, the man assaulted and choked his girlfriend. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On May 10, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 10, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
- Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
- Assault
It is alleged on April 12, 2026, the woman was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the woman attended a Ninth Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Finally, it is alleged on this date, the woman bit the business’ Loss Prevention Officer while the officer attempted to take her into custody. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On May 10, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 16, 2026.
DOMESTIC MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on May 10, 2026, and charged with two counts of domestic mischief. On May 10, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on April 24, 2026, and May 10, 2026, the man damaged his girlfriend’s property. He was subsequently located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
CAUSING A DISTURBANCE
Cornwall, ON – A 66-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 10, 2026, and charged with causing a disturbance. On May 10, 2026, police responded to an ambulance assist call to assist paramedics, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man caused a disturbance. He was subsequently located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 16, 2026.
