FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and domestic assault. On May 9, 2025, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to a domestic dispute and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he assaulted his ex-girlfriend. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED DEVICE, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, FLIGHT FROM PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Four counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Break and enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

It is alleged on May 9, 2025, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code. It is also alleged on this date, he was bound by three separate weapons prohibition orders, with the relevant condition to not possess any firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon or prohibited device, to not possess any prohibited firearm, restricted firearm, prohibited weapon, prohibited device and prohibited ammunition for life and to not possess any firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device or firearm part.

On May 9, 2025, members of the CPS, led by the Street Crime Unit, were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing investigation. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into a building. Police attempted a traffic stop and the man fled police.

He was later located and further investigation revealed he was in possession of edged weapons. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Breach of recognizance
  • Break and enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

It is alleged on May 9, 2025, the man was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

On May 9, 2025, members of the CPS, led by the Street Crime Unit, were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing investigation. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into a building. He was located and further investigation revealed the man was in possession of edged weapons. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 9, 2025, and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle and one count of domestic assault. On May 9, 2025, police responded to a domestic dispute and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on March 12, 2025, the man choked his girlfriend. Furthermore, it is alleged on April 12, 2025, the man assaulted his girlfriend. On May 9, 2025, he was located by police. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 10, 2025, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. On May 10, 2025, members of the CPS responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Brookdale Avenue, and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 29, 2025.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 10, 2025, and charged with domestic assault. On May 10, 2025, police responded to a disturb the peace complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his girlfriend. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, DANGEROUS OPERATION, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old man from Chesterville, ON, was arrested on May 10, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Dangerous operation
  • Assault a peace officer with a weapon
  • Two counts of mischief over $5,000

In the early hours of May 10, 2025, members of the CPS, led by its Street Crime Unit, were conducting an investigation into the recent break and enters and stolen property in the City of Cornwall.

It is alleged on this date, the man broke into a place. As police attempted to intercept the man and his motor vehicle, he drove at a high rate of speed toward two police vehicles, making intentional and violent contact with a CPS marked cruiser and an unmarked police vehicle. No officers were injured as a result of the incident, which occurred in the area of Cornwall Centre Road.

The man was apprehended, taken into custody and charged accordingly.

Additionally, a 33-year-old woman from Bonville, ON, was also arrested and charged with break and enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence. The woman, who was a passenger in the motor vehicle, was taken into custody and charged accordingly.

Both individuals were held for bail hearings.

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on May 10, 2025, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with release order and one count of domestic assault. It is alleged on May 7, 2025, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to reside at a specific address in Ottawa and to remain in his residence between specific hours. It is alleged on this date, the man punched his girlfriend and spat on her. Further investigation revealed the man had been staying with his girlfriend in Cornwall and not residing in Ottawa. On May 10, 2025, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 11, 2025, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Feb. 24, 2025, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. It is also alleged on March 5, 2025, and March 12, 2025, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the CPS every week. Furthermore, it is alleged on these dates, she failed to report to police. On May 11, 2025, police responded to an unwanted person complaint and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 11, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on March 27, 2025, April 3, 2025, and April 10, 2025, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to the CPS every week. It is also alleged on these dates, the woman failed to report to police, and a warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest. On May 11, 2025, the woman approached a CPS officer as she wished to deal with the matter. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 17, 2025.

IMPAIRED BY DRUG

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old man from Alexandria was arrested on May 11, 2025, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. On May 11, 2025, members of the CPS responded to an impaired operation of motor vehicle complaint in the area of Brookdale Avenue and an investigation ensued. The man was located by police and the investigation revealed he was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 3, 2025.  

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 182 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
