SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on May 15, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on May 15, 2026, the youth attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was taken into custody by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business and subsequently turned over to a member of the Cornwall Police Service. He was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and released to appear in court at a later date.  

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 52-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 15, 2026, and charged with domestic mischief. It is alleged on April 17, 2026, the man damaged his ex-boyfriend’s property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On May 15, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 9, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 52-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 15, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Fail to comply with undertaking
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting

It is alleged on May 15, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as an undertaking with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street East business. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street East business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 16, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On May 16, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman bit her spouse. She was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on June 9, 2026.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 62-year-old man from Kalamazoo, MI, was arrested on May 16, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On May 16, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an impaired driver complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located by police, and the investigation revealed he was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 4, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 16, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

It is alleged on May 2, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, she assaulted her boyfriend and threw a household item at the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for her arrest on the charges of:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Domestic assault
  • Domestic assault with a weapon

On May 16, 2026, the woman was taken into custody by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed and she was later released to appear in court on June 9, 2026.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 17, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). In the early morning hours of May 17, 2026, a CPS officer conducted a traffic stop, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 9, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 17, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and assault. It is alleged on April 25, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the woman punched an individual known to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On May 17, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 23, 2026.

POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, DOMESTIC ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 17, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Domestic assault with a weapon
  • Domestic assault causing bodily harm

On April 29, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an ambulance assist call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was in possession of an edged weapon and stabbed her boyfriend, causing injuries to the man. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest. On May 17, 2026, the woman was located by CPS officers. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING, THEFT, FRAUD, USE OF CREDIT CARD

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 18, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants.

It is alleged on June 17, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

On July 20, 2025, a CPS officer began investigating a fraud complaint, after an individual reported that on July 18, 2025, his wallet was stollen from his motor vehicle. It is alleged on July 18, 2025, the man stole the individual’s property, defrauded the individual of money, and used the individual’s credit card to conduct unauthorized transactions. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on the charges of:

  • Two counts of theft under $5,000
  • Two counts of fraud under $5,000
  • Two counts of use of credit card

On May 18, 2026, police responded to a suspicious person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was subsequently located by CPS officers. The warrants were executed and he was later released to appear in court on June 30, 2026.

MISCHIEF, IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 18, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On May 18, 2026, CPS officers responded to a family dispute, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man damaged his parent’s property. Further investigation revealed he was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on June 4, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 19, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with the following:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Two counts of assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Theft of motor vehicle

It is alleged on March 31, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not contact or communicate in any way with his girlfriend. It is further alleged on this date, the man communicated with the woman on a social media application. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order.

It is alleged on April 10, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man assaulted two individuals known to him with a weapon and assaulted one of the individuals, causing injuries. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.

It is alleged on May 18, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, he stole the motor vehicle of an individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were once again developed for his arrest.

In the early morning hours of May 19, 2026, the man was taken into custody by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrants were executed, he was charged accordingly and returned to the custody of OPP.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on May 19, 2026, and charged with three counts of fail to comply with release order. It is alleged from Jan. 26, 2026, to May 16, 2026, the youth was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to reside with a surety at a specific address in the City of Cornwall, to notify the officer in charge of any change of address and to remain in his residence between specific hours with no exceptions. It is further alleged the youth breached the conditions of his release order. Police were contacted, and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. In the early morning hours of May 19, 2026, the youth was located by police. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.
