Media Release - May 4, 2026
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man of Ottawa was arrested on May 1, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 1, 2025, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to sign in with the Cornwall Police Service. He failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for his arrest for failing to comply with release order. On May 1, 2026, the man was located, the warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – On May 1, 2026, police were contacted to attend a Brookdale Avenue grocery store regarding a shoplifting complaint. It is alleged on this date, two youths attended the business, selected merchandise, and left the store without attempting to pay for it. The youths were taken into custody by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer. While being taken into custody, it is alleged one of the youths assaulted the LPO. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result of the investigation;
- A 13-year-old youth was charged with theft under $5,000 and assault
- A 15-year-old youth was charged with theft under $5,000
They were both released to appear in court on a later date.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 47-year-old woman of Cornwall was arrested on May 1, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on May 1, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street grocery store, selected merchandise, and left without attempting to pay for it. She was taken into custody by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 1, 2026.
REFUSAL
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on May 2, 2026, and charged with refusing to provide a sample of his breath. It is alleged in the early hours of this date, a member of CPS Community Patrol stopped a vehicle for the driver’s conduct and Highway Traffic Act offenses. An investigation ensued. During the investigation, the officer suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol and demanded a suitable sample of his breath. It is alleged the man refused. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on May 21, 2026.
SEXUAL INVITATION, SEXUAL ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on May 2, 2026, and charged with sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching. It is alleged between April 11, 2017, and April 11, 2019. It is alleged that during this time, the accused invited a person under the age of 16 to sexual touching and committed a sexual assault. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 2, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on June 04, 2026.
DOMESTIC FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 61-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on May 2, 2026, and charged with six counts of failing to comply with probation. It is alleged that on April 27, 2026 and May 2, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, not communicate with and/or be within a specified distance of his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged on both dates; the man attended her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 2, 2026, the man was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old woman was arrested on May 3, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on June 27, 2025, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to abide by a curfew and failed to do so. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for one count of failing to comply with release order. On May 3, 2026, the woman was located during an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and was released to appear in court on June 18, 2026.

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on May 3, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Feb. 27, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 3, 2026, the man was located during an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old woman of Cornwall was arrested on May 3, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on May 3, 2026, the woman attended a Second Street grocery store, selected merchandise, and left without attempting to pay for it. She was taken into custody by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 18, 2026.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth was arrested on May 3, 2026, and charged with assault. It is alleged on May 3, 2026, the youth spat on another individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on June 11, 2026.
