Media Release - May 21, 2026

OTTAWA MAN CHARGED IN CHILD EXPLOITATION, SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – Ayman Kamran, 22, from Gloucester, ON, was arrested on May 20, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

It is alleged on April 11, 2026, the man accessed and possessed an image depicting child sexual abuse material. It is further alleged the accused communicated on social media with a person believed to be under the age of 16 through telecommunications for the purpose of facilitating the commission of an offence. Additionally, it is alleged the man sexually assaulted and touched the individual for a sexual purpose.

Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a detective with the Cornwall Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit. As a result, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on the following charges:

  • Access any child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
  • Sexual interference

On May 20, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

Police believe there may be additional victims in relation to this investigation. The CPS ICE unit investigates the exploitation of children via digital media. Its mandate is to reduce the supply of, and demand for, child pornography, to ensure the successful prosecution and sentencing of child pornography offenders and to identify otherwise unknown victims.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 68-year-old man from St. Andrews West was arrested on May 20, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on April 11, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not contact or communicate with a specific family member. It is further alleged on this date, the man communicated with the individual he was prohibited from contacting. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On May 20, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 20, 2026, and charged with mischief – destroys or damages property. It is alleged on May 12, 2026, the man damaged property of the City of Cornwall while in police custody. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On May 20, 2026, the man was located at the courthouse. He was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 20, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. On May 11, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence and stole property belonging to the woman. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on the charges of break and enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence and theft under $5,000. On May 20, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and the man was later released to appear in court on June 9, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 20, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 19, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to attend for court – as per undertaking. On May 20, 2026, she attended police headquarters for an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and the woman was released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 20, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and assault. It is alleged on May 20, 2026, the woman attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged she assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was later released to appear in court on June 30, 2026.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 20, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on June 20, 2024, the man assaulted an individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of assault. On May 20, 2026, a CPS officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle with expired validation tags, and an investigation followed. The man was taken into custody and the warrant was executed. He was later released to appear in court on June 18, 2026.

MISCHIEF, OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on May 20, 2026, and charged with mischief under $5,000 and operation while prohibited. It is alleged on May 20, 2026, the man interfered with the lawful use and enjoyment of property belonging to an individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Further investigation revealed the man was observed operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. The man was subsequently located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 18, 2026.  

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 21, 2026, and charged with mischief – domestic. In the early morning hours of May 21, 2026, CPS officers responded to a mental health act call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man damaged property at a residence he and his ex-girlfriend both reside in. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.
