MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 23, 2025, and charged with mischief under $5,000. It is alleged on May 12, 2025, the man damaged his ex-girlfriend’s television. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 23, 2025, the man attended the Cornwall Police Service to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 10, 2025.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old woman from Long Sault was arrested on May 23, 2025, and charged with criminal harassment – repeatedly follow, repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct. It is alleged on May 16, 2025, the woman attempted to obstruct her ex-boyfriend’s departure from a parking lot and subsequently followed both he and his motor vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 23, 2025, she attended police headquarters to address the matter. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 26, 2025.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 23, 2025, and charged with domestic assault with a weapon and assault. On May 23, 2025, members of the CPS responded to an intimate partner violence call and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman assaulted her spouse with a frying pan and also slapped her mother. She was located by police and taken into custody. The woman was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 24, 2025.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 23, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with 10 counts of fail to comply with probation order and eight counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged:

  • On March 16, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On March 21, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She was also bound by a second probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific business. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business that she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On March 30, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On April 5, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On April 19, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On April 22, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On April 27, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On May 6, 2025, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
  • On May 13, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On May 23, 2025, the woman was located by a CPS officer who was on general patrol. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on May 24, 2025, and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon. On May 24, 2025, the man attended the Port of Entry, and it is alleged he was in possession of a taser. He was taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The man was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 26, 2025.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 25, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Impaired operation and over 80
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

On May 25, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man operated his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed he was allegedly in possession of brass knuckles. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on June 12, 2025.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on May 25, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on April 3, 2025, the man was scheduled to appear in court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 25, 2025, the man was located by a member of the CPS. The warrant was executed, and he was held for a bail hearing.  

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on May 25, 2025, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. On May 25, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not communicate with her boyfriend and to not be within 100 metres of her boyfriend or his address. The investigation revealed the woman was in contact with her boyfriend at his residence. She was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was held for a bail hearing.  

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 139 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
