DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, OVERCOME RESISTANCE BY ATTEMPTING TO CHOKE, SUFFOCATE OR STRANGLE ANOTHER PERSON

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Oct. 15, 2024, and charged with domestic assault with a weapon and overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person. It is alleged, the man threw a coffee table at his girlfriend. It is also alleged he grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against a wall. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Oct. 15, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Nov. 12, 2024. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.
