FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Oct. 16, 2024, and charged with four counts of fail to comply with probation order and two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. It is alleged on Oct. 16, 2024, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact his spouse and to not be within 100 metres of any place where he knows her to live, work or frequent. It is also alleged on this date, the man was bound by a separate probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Furthermore, it is alleged on this date, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not associate or communicate with his spouse and to not be within 250 metres of his spouse’s place of residence, employment or any place she may be. Finally, it is alleged on Oct. 16, 2024, the man attended his spouse’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, EXTORTION

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Oct. 16, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate
  • Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
  • Extortion

It is alleged from Sept. 12, 2024, to Oct. 12, 2024, the man continuously emailed his ex-girlfriend and threatened to share a sex video of them if she did not answer him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Oct. 16, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Hogansburg, NY, was arrested on Oct. 16, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on March 24, 2024, the youth was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Oct. 16, 2024, the youth was taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed and the youth was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  

WARRANT, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Lancaster man was arrested on Oct. 16, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault with a weapon
  • Domestic mischief
  • Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

It is alleged on Sept. 28, 2024, the man threw a vase at his spouse and damaged property in their residence. It is also alleged on this date, the man locked his spouse out of their home. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Oct. 16, 2024, members of the OPP conducted a traffic stop and an investigation ensued. The man was subsequently turned over to the CPS, the warrant was executed and he was charged accordingly. The man was released to appear in court on Nov. 5, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.
