FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Oct. 18, 2024, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Oct. 18, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not contact or communicate with his girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place he knows his girlfriend to live, work or frequent. On Oct. 18, 2024, members of the CPS were on general patrol and allegedly observed the man to be in the presence of his girlfriend. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

MAN FACES 16 CHARGES IN RELATION TO HISTORICAL DOMESTIC OCCURENCES

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Oct. 18, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Four counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Two counts of domestic assault
  • Two counts of domestic assault with a weapon
  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Use of firearm while committing offence
  • Intimidate – use or threatens use of violence
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Obstruct justice

On Oct. 16, 2024, an individual attended police headquarters to report historical domestic occurrences and an investigation ensued.

It is alleged, on four separate occasions, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged he was bound by a weapons prohibition with the relevant conditions to not possess any firearm, any weapon or ammunition for a period of 10 years and to not possess any prohibited firearm, restricted firearm, prohibited weapon, prohibited device and prohibited ammunition for life.

It is alleged the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend and threw a mirror at her. It is also alleged he pointed a gun at her head and held an edged weapon to her throat during sex. Furthermore, it is alleged, the man threatened to kill the woman. It is also alleged the man held an edged weapon to his ex-girlfriend’s throat and intimidated her. Finally, it is alleged the man attempted to obstruct justice by offering the woman a bribe to not press charges and testify against him.

On Oct. 18, 2024, the man was taken into custody by the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to members of the CPS. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Aaron Campeau, 41, of Ottawa, was arrested on Oct. 18, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with six counts of fail to comply with release order and eight counts of theft under $5,000. It is alleged:

  • On July 16, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest.
  • On Sept. 29, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  
  • On Oct. 6, 2024, the man attended another Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  
  • On Oct. 7, 2024, the man attended another Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  
  • On Oct. 11, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  
  • On Oct. 13, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  
  • On Oct. 16, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  
  • On Oct. 18, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is also alleged on this date, the man attended the Ninth Street East business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.  

On Oct. 18, 2024, police responded to a Ninth Street East business in relation to a theft complaint. The man was located by police and taken into custody. The warrant was executed and he was charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Lancaster man was arrested on Oct. 20, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with release order. On Oct. 20, 2024, police responded to a domestic dispute and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not communicate with his ex-girlfriend. The man was located by police, allegedly in the presence of his ex-girlfriend. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Nov. 12, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on Oct. 20, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with undertaking. On Oct. 20, 2024, police responded to a domestic dispute and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not communicate with her ex-boyfriend. The woman was located by police, allegedly in the presence of her ex-boyfriend. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Nov. 29, 2024. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – Mark Wilson, 66, of Cornwall, was arrested on Oct. 20, 2024, and charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on Oct. 20, 2024, the man brandished an edged weapon and threatened to kill a woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on Dec. 19, 2024.

FAIL TO COMPLY, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Oct. 20, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with release order and mischief over $5,000. It is alleged on Oct. 20, 2024, the youth was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in his residence between specific hours. On Oct. 20, 2024, police responded to a suspicious person complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth damaged a motor vehicle. Furthermore, it is alleged, the youth breached his curfew. He was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

There were 152 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today). CPS reserves the right to not post all calls for service in order to protect the identity of the victims.
