FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 15, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with undertaking and one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on July 22, 2026, the man was bound by two separate undertakings, each with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is further alleged on this date, he attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Patrol Support Unit officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest. On Sept. 15, 2026, he was located by a Cornwall Police Service officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 15, 2026, and charged with five counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of assault causing bodily harm. In June 2026, a CPS officer initiated an investigation into a historical assault complaint. It is alleged from Jan. 1, 2022, to Dec. 31, 2024, the woman assaulted her grandson with multiple household objects. It is further alleged she assaulted the youth causing bodily harm to him. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest. On Sept. 15, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 54-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on Sept. 15, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants.

It is alleged on Dec. 16, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.

It is also alleged between Aug. 4, 2025, and Jan. 9, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to report in person to a probation officer immediately and to report in person to a probation officer within five working days of his release from custody. It is further alleged he failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order.

On Sept. 15, 2026, the man was located and taken into custody by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. The warrants were executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 12-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 15, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with undertaking and fail to comply with release order. On Sept. 15, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a local school in regard to a weapons complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not possess a firearm, crossbow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, ammunition, prohibited ammunition or explosive substance, as well as a release order with the relevant condition to not possess any weapon(s) as defined by the Criminal Code. It is further alleged he brandished an edged weapon at school. The youth was subsequently located and taken into police custody. He was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and held for a bail hearing.

It is alleged on Sept. 6, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street East business. It is further alleged he attended the Ninth Street East business he was prohibited from attending, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Patrol Support Unit officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Sept. 15, 2026, the man was located and taken into custody by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
