POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Cornwall, ON – Brandon Derix, 28, of Cornwall, was arrested on September 28th, 2023, and charged with one count of possession of child pornography. It is alleged that on February 20th, 2023, the man shared images of suspected child pornography on a social media platform. Police were notified and an investigation commenced. Police executed a search warrant and located child pornography on the man’s device. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on November 2nd, 2023.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old man of Newington was arrested on September 28th, 2023, and charged with 11 counts of assault, four counts of assault with a weapon, and four counts of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on multiple occasions between January 1st, 2021, and June 1st, 2022, there were multiple occurrences of the man assaulting his girlfriend, assaulting her using household items, and choking her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 28th, 2023, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT, FAIL TO COMPLY WITH PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – James MacFarlane, 39, of Cornwall, was arrested on September 28th, 2023, and charged with theft under $5000 and two counts of failing to comply with probation. It is alleged that on September 27th, 2023, the man was bound by two probation orders with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Also on this date, it is alleged that the man attended a residence and removed property without the occupant’s permission. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 28th, 2023, the man was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on November 2nd, 2023.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth was arrested on September 28th, 2023, and charged with one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on September 15th, 2023, the youth sexually assaulted another individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 28th, 2023, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear at a later date. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – Jason Prost, 51, of Prescott, was arrested on September 28th, 2023, and charged with one count of uttering threats. It is alleged that on September 23rd, 2023, the man threatened to cause harm to another individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 28th, 2023, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on November 2nd, 2023.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth was arrested on September 28th, 2023, and charged with assault and mischief under $5000. It is alleged that on September 28th, 2023, the youth assaulted her mother and damaged her property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
