WOMAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO STABBING

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on March 12, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Feb. 28, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service responded to a stabbing in the area of First Street East and Prince Arthur Street. An extensive investigation ensued, led by the Criminal Investigation Division.

It is alleged on Feb. 28, 2026, the woman was in possession of an edged weapon, contrary to her prohibition order, and stabbed an individual. The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital.

As a result of the investigation, a warrant was subsequently issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

On March 12, 2026, members of the Ontario Provincial Police’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad, with assistance from the CPS’ Criminal Investigation Division, located the woman.

The warrant was executed, and she was held for a bail hearing.

Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage played a key role in the investigation. As the CPS continues to investigate incidents, residents and business owners are encouraged to take advantage of the CamSafe program.

CamSafe is a voluntary CCTV and security video registry that allows community members to register their surveillance cameras, helping officers quickly identify potential video sources when investigating crimes in the area.
